Click for HOBO SCHOLARSHIP INSTRUCTIONS AND APPLICATION FORMBeginning with the graduating class of 2025, the HOBO scholarship will be open to seniors in Chilton and Coosa Counties planning to attend an accredited 2 or 4 year college or vocational/trade school. One of the requirements for this scholarship is to participate in one of two Lake Mitchell Clean-up Days. The spring date was Saturday, May 4, 2024 and the fall cleanup date will be Saturday, October 5, 2024, beginning at 8 a.m. at Higgins Ferry Park.
2024 Scholarship WinnerSidney Thornton is the 2024 Lake Mitchell HOBO Scholarship recipient. She will graduate in May from Central High School in Coosa County. Sidney plans to attend the University of South Alabama in Mobile and major in Radiologic Science/Radiation Therapy.

HOBO awards $2000 scholarships to two deserving high school seniors from Coosa or Chilton County. Funding for the annual scholarship program comes from a combination of proceeds from the Poker Run and other contributions.
